I am morally against mockups, usually, but today I am standing down
from my personal commandment on such things to bring you one person’s
idea of what the next generation Xbox, the ‘Xbox 720,’ might look like.
Why do we like this mockup? Because, unlike most, it is both beautiful and practical. If the Xbox 720 came out with this look and the listed specs, we would have no choice but to deem it a success.
Before we dive into the mockup itself, here is something to notice: The Xbox 360 came out more than a half decade ago. That means that its hardware is aging, but has managed to hold up quite well. If the Xbox 360 can sell as well as it currently is this far into its product cycle, it means that Microsoft has a good shot at selling its next console in massive quantity; a fertile sales bed it has indeed laid.
Now, these are the listed specs for the imagined device: “The console has an 8-core processor for super-speed performance up to 20 times faster than previous Xbox models. It supports 3D, 4K2K, multiTV (DPConnect), live TV and webcam, as well as GPS that allows users to view the location of any other user on an active map.” You want.
